For as long as I can remember I have had a great interest in architecture, construction and writing software. It’s a weird combination but there are a lot of similarities between the three.
I had a great opportunity in 2009-2011 to build my own house. I learned a lot from the process but it also highlighted the fact that the architecture and construction industries are lagging behind the rest of the world in their use of online tools. They are very fragmented and operate independently of each other. There is a lot of waste both in terms of time and effort.
inny RED is first and foremost a place where I can publish my thoughts on the design and building process and how new thinking such as lean startup, social media and online collaboration can help to reinvigorate the Architecture and Construction industries. There is no point in building something for the sake of it. You need to be ‘building right’.
